Who has not read Anne Rice? Interview with the Vampire was my first book about vampires and that's in my library as one of my greatest treasures.
This year I read "The Body Snatchers" and thought it a good book but not the best.
Here is a fragment thereof.

the mind's eye the Central Park room with windows open to the sea, and the false David asking the mysterious gift. And Gretchen. Ever think that in those moments Gretchen did not remember, remember I told the story of Gretchen the man I was supposed to David before they both go up to that room, feeling that my heart skipped a beat, thinking: At last ! At last! "
